The Fort Riley Limestone Member of the Barneston Limestone Formation and the Cresswell Limestone Member of the Winfield Limestone Formation are both quarried as building stones. Capping the western part of the Flint Hills is the Barneston Limestone Formation, with a thickness of 24 to 27 m (80-90 ft) (Zeller, 1968).
